Training is a top priority at PAPUREX. For the past 12 years, training has been an essential component of PAPUREX’s efforts to ensure its long-term viability. In 2014, the first apprentice began his journey at the Odenwald-based tubing manufacturer. Dominik, who started his training as an industrial clerk at that time, is still with the company today. After passing his industrial clerk exam, his path led him through a dual degree program in business administration all the way to the executive level at PAPUREX.
Similar career paths can also be seen in the production department. For example, Damian, who was part of the first cohort of process mechanic apprentices (now known as plastics technologists) in 2016, now holds a leadership position as a shift supervisor in our production department. In 2024, Leon—who is now entering the home stretch of his apprenticeship—paved the way for the third apprenticeship program at PAPUREX: mechatronics technician.
Three New Apprentices Set a New Record for Apprenticeship Enrollment
August marks the start of the new apprenticeship year and, with it, a new chapter in the lives of three young people who have decided to begin their professional careers at PAPUREX. Quentin is diving headfirst into the craft of extrusion and, as part of his apprenticeship as a plastics technologist, is learning everything he needs to know to manufacture Polyurethane Tubing for industries around the world. Ida, on the other hand, is getting to know all areas of PAPUREX’s administration through her apprenticeship as an industrial clerk, becoming a versatile business professional. Luca rounds out the new trio of apprentices and is strengthening the workshop team as a mechatronics technician in training.
With Tim and Leon—two more apprentices from the class of 2024—also on board, for the first time in the company’s history, five young people are completing their apprenticeships at PAPUREX at the same time. This marks a record number of apprentices for us!
