Extrusion has been the cornerstone of value creation at PAPUREX since the beginning of the company’s history. It is not without reason that the “EX” at the end of our name stands for precisely this process technology. Reason enough for us to take a closer look at the process that we have been successfully operating for more than 40 years:
Extrusion is the umbrella term for all processes in which a material is pressed through a shaping opening. The process is by no means only used in the plastics industry, such as at PAPUREX for the production of pneumatic tubing. Everyday foods such as breakfast cereals or snack products are also produced using extrusion. However, the process technology has its origins in metal processing. The first lead pipes were produced using a similar process as early as the end of the 18th century.
Since then, a lot has happened in the field of extrusion. Numerous techniques have been developed to get the best out of every material. Accordingly, there are also various forms of extruders to extrude all materials from polyurethane to lead and cornflakes.
Detailed information on the subject of extrusion, the various techniques and the structure of extruders can be found in a new article in our knowledge category.
