There are many tubing suppliers in today’s globalized market. Large corporations offer tubing as part of their product portfolio. Smaller tubing suppliers specialize in this product. What arguments does PAPUREX have to convince a prospective customer to buy from the tubing manufacturer based in the Odenwald region? The example of a new customer from Hungary at the beginning of October 2025 shows how much further PAPUREX and the self-image of Individual Tubing Solutions go.
Not just tubing suppliers, but individual problem solvers
On Wednesday, October 1, 2025, PAPUREX receives a call. It is a prospective customer from Hungary who has found out about PAPUREX on the Internet. He is looking for a tubing supplier who can meet his current needs. Nothing unusual so far – or so you might think. However, the request turns out to be somewhat more complex than is the case with a standard procedure.
The Hungarian prospective customer has a big problem: he has run out of two different types of tubes. His production lines are already at a standstill. Every minute that this situation continues costs him money. He also risks not being able to meet his customers’ needs on time. His previous tubing suppliers are currently unable to deliver – at least not quickly enough to avoid major damage due to the production stoppage.
The request has another special feature: the desired products are not standard dimensions commonly available on the market. In order to produce such special dimensions, adjustments to the production process are necessary, which also takes time. However, the prospective customer from Hungary does not have this time. He therefore asks PAPUREX to process his request as quickly as possible. Ideally, he would like to have a corresponding offer on the table the very next day.
Special dimensions, time pressure, and German Unity Day
Despite the unusual dimensions of the tubing, the potential new customer from Hungary had his offer on the table by 8:30 a.m. the very next day. His request was given priority due to the belt stoppage. It was now up to the prospective customer. Despite the time pressure, he naturally wanted to compare the quotations from various tubing suppliers in order to determine the best price-performance ratio. At 11:48 a.m., his acceptance reached the PAPUREX sales department. The quotation from the tubing supplier from Odenwald had won him over.
The next major hurdle was coordinating the delivery date. The prospective customer, who had now become a customer, explained his requirements on the phone. He wanted the delivery to be on its way to Hungary by Friday, October 3, at the latest. The problem was that October 3 is German Unity Day, a national holiday in Germany. This meant that neither production nor shipping were possible. In order to end the customer’s production downtime as soon as possible, there was only one solution: the tubing had to be produced on the same day.
Precise yet fast – processes of a certified tubing supplier
Delivering tubes with special dimensions to the plant on the same day they are ordered is a particular challenge. The first, perhaps most obvious problem is that production has to be planned. However, the plants at PAPUREX were already fully booked on Thursday, October 2. The production planner therefore had to use all his creativity to make room in the schedule without jeopardizing the deadlines of other customers. But that was only one side of the coin. In concrete terms, however, this means that tolerances, entries in the merchandise management system, production data, and much more must be created and documented in advance of production. The implementation of express production was therefore a real team effort. From sales to quality management to production, various team members were involved in making the project possible. By 3:30 p.m., the time had come. Less than 24 hours after the initial customer contact, production of the special tubing had already begun.
Now there was just one problem to solve: delivery. Due to the public holiday, no shipping company could be commissioned on Friday, October 3. However, waiting until after the weekend to ship the goods was not an option for the new Hungarian customer. This was yet another example of why Individual Tubing Solutions is not just a slogan. Without further ado, a special pickup was arranged with the customer for Saturday, October 4. By 2:00 p.m., the goods had already been loaded and were on their way to Hungary. This meant that the production line stoppage could be ended on Monday morning (October 6, 2025). Normally, the production of industrial tubes takes two to three weeks. In this case, it took less than three working days.
